Create custom tabs
Customise your dashboard with tabs for a personal workflow. Tabs allow you to organise your dashboard so you always see the files and information most relevant to your work. You can add your own tabs or activate pre-configured ones created by ProductIP. As files move through their lifecycle, they automatically appear under the matching tab, giving you a clear workflow view.
Feature access
All ProductIP users can create and manage their own tabs.
Before you begin
Decide if you want to create your own tab or activate one of the pre-configured workflow tabs. Pre-configured workflow tabs include:
- Technical file with status Draft – Without a document request
- Technical file with status Draft – Document request acceptance pending
- Technical file with status Draft – With unchecked documents

Steps
1. Go to the Technical Files tab and click the + button to add a new tab.
2. Choose one of these options:
- Activate one or more pre-configured tab such as Draft Files – Without a document request.
- Create your own custom tab by clicking the Create custom tab button.
3. When creating a custom tab, you have a multitude of options to choose from. We recommend to not select too many options at once to avoid missing important technical files in your overview. At the bottom there is also a text filter for information not yet provided in the options above. Always fill the top field Tab name.
4. Click Save.
5. Adjust the tab layout:
- Click Select columns to choose which columns to show.
- Drag and drop columns to change their order.
- Click a column header to sort; click again to reverse the order.
- Hold SHIFT and click another column to sort by multiple columns.
6. If you like the setup, move your mouse over Select columns to see advanced options:
- Copy to tabs: Apply this layout to one or more other tabs.
- Set as Default: Make this the default layout for any new tabs you create.
Tips and best practices
- Use pre-configured workflow tabs if you want an overview of file progress without setting filters manually.
- Design tabs for specific tasks, for example “My pending reviews” or “Supplier drafts”.
- Copy layouts across tabs to keep your dashboard consistent.
- Some columns are dynamic and show the number of days until a deadline. After the deadline has passed the number turns red and a minus sign is added. The same goes for the Reorder expiry date, which turns red when in the past.
- The column Documents requested shows the date when you last sent out a document request. Hover over it and see the email address to which the request was sent.
-
The column Last comment shows the date when you sent your last comment and turns blue when you have received a reply. hover over the date and read the last sent text.
Troubleshooting

- Columns missing?

- Sorting not working as expected?
Reset by clicking once on the column header, then apply multi-sorting with SHIFT + click.
